Nonetheless, O’Donnell quickly succumbed to the popular meme that the Bush administration knew, or should have known, that there were no WMDs in Iraq. He even insisted on taking Rice through the ridiculous exercise of making decisions retroactively with new information:

Do you think we might have a similar uprising in Iraq today?

I wonder if Lawrence O’Donnell would have gotten those botox shots if he had known– as he knows now, and we all know now– how ghoulishly waxen his forehead would look.

The so-called “debt ceiling” are words that sound like Greek to a lot of people.

Are you sure? I think the meaning of “debt ceiling” is fairly self-evident. Perhaps it sounds like Greek to Richard Lui because, as one of the commenters on this YouTube clip points out, Lui misunderstands the very concept he means to explain:

1. The debt ceiling is not like “the government’s credit card.” The borrowing limit of the U.S.A. is not determined by creditors, at least not in any direct sense. It is self-imposed.
2. “Spending” does not equal debt. Spending in excess of revenue may incur debt, but spending is not debt.

Simultaneously condescending, silly and wrong. I would expect nothing less from MSNBC.

This is a particularly egregious example of the way MSNBC approaches broadcasting: a giggling liberal assured of his own moral superiority makes reductionist arguments about his opponents’ position while completely avoiding gigantic frontiers of substantive debate.

The GOProud chairman takes the bait a few times but otherwise does an excellent job exposing the host as a condescending, closed-minded prick who did not bother to conduct even cursory research of his guest or the organization he represents. (Watch the exchange at about 2:10.)

The crux of her argument is that conservative politicians (and of course now Fox News) create a fear of minorities among stupid, racist white people who are evidently so prevalent in this country as to create a powerful political base.  She asserts that this group of stupid white racists have been tricked into believing that civil rights are a zero sum equation, and that whites lose civil rights when equal treatment is given to minorities.

Of course she does not seem to grasp the irony of her argument.  “You must hate and fear the conservative racists who are using the politics of hatred and fear to manipulate the people!”.  Right.  In any case this glimpse into the dark abyss of racial propaganda is arguably worth watching for educational purposes.
