Allies?  Who needs ‘em!  The Obama administration’s approach to foreign policy, other than “we’re not Bush!”, seems to be “cross your fingers and hope everyone in the world rides the wave of Obama’s personal charisma straight into a one-world uptopia, with gumdrops and rainbows and flying hydrogen cars!”

In his speech to the United Nations, the president said “America does not accept the legitimacy of continued Israeli settlements”, and called for Palestinians to end their “incitement of Israel”.  This is a subtle but significant change in policy towards Israel, kicking sand in the face of the only ally of freedom and democracy in the wasteland of the Middle East.  This policy is both morally reprehensible, and the equivalent of stepping in the middle of a fight between a lion and a velociraptor.

This comes not long after selling out Poland to the Russians by cancelling America’s plans to build a missile defense system there.  After years of cooperation and support in Iraq from the Polish, and increasing reason to believe we would be strong allies in the future, this is their reward.  What did we get in exchange for throwing Poland under the bus?  Evidently, we paved the way for GE to get some contracts in Russia.  Is there any special interest Obama is not beholden to?  Oh yeah…the American people.
