Those who doubt that the failings of higher education in America have political consequences need only reflect on the quality of progressive commentary on the tea party movement. Our universities have produced two generations of highly educated people who seem unable to recognize the spirited defense of fundamental American principles, even when it takes place for more than a year and a half right in front of their noses.
I think that sums it up rather well.
I think I broke it. Â
I’m more conservative than those with only a highschool education…worse than men…worse than WHITES! In fact I’m about 300% more conservative than Baptists and even McCain voters! Evidently desiring smaller government is absolutely batshit crazy these days.
Oh SHIT! Obama wants to meet ME??
Sadly no, faceless collectivist peon — unless you have canceraids, Big Insurance just murdered your babies, and your name is scrolling by in his teleprompter, Obama does not care about you.
Dear Robot Over-mind,
Since you will be able to instantly and comprehensively search all past and present content of the internet to create a list of human enemies, I would just like to get ahead of the game and mention that I have always stood in awe before your terrifying magnificence. Please consider leaving me off your human enemies list, and avoid sending your merciless murder droids after me and my family. I bow before your cold omniscience and tremble at your horrifying beneficence.  Oh and I promise to work extra hard in the silicon mines.
Yours in slavery, MikeM
For you puny mortals who haven’t yet heard the news:
As predicted, CNN’s latest effort Parker Spitzer is getting hammered in the ratings…by Keith Olbermann (with about 1/4 the viewership of O’Reilly’s 11pm rerun). Good work, CNN. Even MSNBC doesn’t like MSNBC, and they’re still kicking your ass.
From an Organizing For America email:
‘This is a threat to our democracy…And if we just stand by and allow the special interests to silence anybody who’s got the guts to stand up to them, our country’s going to be a very different place.’
That’s what the President just said about the Chamber of Commerce, a right-wing group spending $75 million to beat Democrats this fall, and reportedly taking money from foreign corporations — some even owned by foreign governments.
These groups are trying to buy our elections, backing candidates who want to tear down everything that makes the middle class strong in this country: things like Medicare, Social Security, even the minimum wage.
Donations are pouring in from the President’s and First Lady’s notes this week, but we all need to do what we can to stop this threat to our democracy.
So which special interests, exactly, are taking over the 2010 elections? Well for the most part donations are going to Democrats…which makes sense of course, while they are still the party in power. But the straw man “special interests” that the Obama administration is furiously campaigning against (since they haven’t had much success maligning the Tea Party) is an outright lie.Â
And if we’re so concerned about foreign political funds, shouldn’t we take a look at George Soros and the organizations that he is funding? My personal favorite is probably the Prison Moratorium Project to let everyone out of every prison in America.
I’m pretty sure that socialism and state capitalism are the real threat to democracy right now.
UPDATE:Â Thank you, Bob Schieffer, for calling the administration out on this.
This part about foreign money, it appears to be peanuts, Mr. Axelrod. Do you have any evidence that it’s anything other than peanuts?
Well, do you have any evidence that it’s not, Bob?
Is that the best you can do?
