Is There Any Problem Jeffrey Sachs Can’t Solve?

These profits stink of corporationey corporations.

Bret Stephens writes in his WSJ column, “To Help Haiti, End Foreign Aid.”

Economist Jeffrey Sachs proposes to spend between $10 and $15 billion dollars on a five-year development program. “The obvious way for Washington to cover this new funding,” he writes, “is by introducing special taxes on Wall Street bonuses.”

I know Wall Street is a magically self-replenishing pot of gold, but if for any reason that does not work out, Mike B. has a better idea:

The obvious way for Washington to cover this funding is by taxing leftist economic professors an additional 50% of their salary as penitence for all of the damage they have done.

  1. A few years ago Sachs wrote a book describing how to end world poverty. It contained all sorts of bizzare details, such as specific tonnage of manure to various countries. Wiliams Easterly pretty much called it a central planning book in the article.

And here you can read him calling the WSJ "anti science and ignorant" and he defends the biggest fraud of all time – Global Warming.

All in all, a contemptible man.
